Derrick serves as a Wealth Manager, working directly with his clients to build, implement, and maintain a comprehensive financial plan that helps bring comfort, understanding, and a detailed approach to how he will help them accomplish their goals. He focuses on retirement planning, investment planning, risk assessment, estate planning, tax planning strategies and aggregated financial planning.

Prior to starting Bluepoint Wealth Management in 2021, Derrick spent four and a half years as a Wealth Manager for a large independent registered investment advisory firm based out of Leawood, Kansas. Prior to that, he spent thirteen years as the Director of Wealth Management and a Senior Financial Consultant for an independent investment advisory firm located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In both of those roles Derrick served high net worth individuals and families throughout the country. Derrick was responsible for having a holistic understanding of his clients’ circumstances and worked closely with them to help achieve their goals.

Derrick received his bachelor's degree in Finance from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. He is also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional as designated by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards since 2010. He completed his CFP® course work at Minnesota State – Mankato.

Derrick’s wife Rebecca is a 1st grade elementary school teacher and they have three children. The two oldest are passionate hockey players and the youngest is focused on Brazilian Jui-Jitsu. He has completed three full distance Ironman triathlon races and two additional marathons. Derrick is also a US Navy veteran, serving six years on active duty prior to attending college.
